A new assessment from Anwulika Okonjo

The Work Ahead

How well designed is the future of your work?

Most people think about the future of their work one decision at a time: a new role. A new business model. A personal brand. A new direction. A few AI tools.

But these choices don’t exist independently.

The Work Ahead Assessment is designed to help you see the whole picture and make strategic decisions about what to focus on developing next.

Move from disconnected decision-making to integrated clarity, and deliberately design the future of your work.

  1. 1The work you want to do affects the value you can create.
  2. 2The value you create affects how you need to be known.
  3. 3That affects who you need to become.
  4. 4And all of it changes the systems you need to support the way you work.

You might know you need to change something.

Perhaps you’ve outgrown the way you’re working. Perhaps AI is changing the economics of what you do and you haven’t worked out what that means for you yet. Perhaps you’re successful on paper, but the shape of your working life no longer makes sense.

Or perhaps you can see a bigger future for yourself, but you can’t quite work out how all the pieces fit together.

You don’t need another personality test. You don’t need another generic career assessment.

You need better questions.

Questions that help you think about what your work could become — and what that future would actually require of you.

Six dimensions of the work ahead

The assessment explores six dimensions of your working life:

  • Direction

What is this next chapter actually in service of?

  • Work

What should you spend your time, attention and talent on — and what should change?

  • Value

What value are you uniquely positioned to create, and how does it become something valuable in the world?

  • Position

How do you want to be known and what needs to exist in the world for people to perceive and trust the work you’ve decided to do?

  • Becoming

What do you want to protect, what do you want to refine, and who do you need to become for the next chapter?

  • Infrastructure

What systems and support (human, AI and technical) do you need to achieve your goals and operate at your best?

But the interesting question isn’t simply how you’re doing in each area.

It’s whether they fit together.

  • You might have a clear vision but a business model that rewards the opposite behaviour.
  • You might know what you want to be known for but still spend your days doing work that reinforces your old identity.
  • You might have sophisticated AI tools but no clear idea what you actually want them to help you build.
  • You might be trying to reinvent yourself when the real work is to protect something essential, refine what already works, and change only what needs to change.

The Work Ahead Assessment is designed to surface those gaps and tensions.

What you’ll get

The assessment will help you understand:

  1. 01Where you’re clear, and where you’re not.
  2. 02Which choices are reinforcing one another, and which are pulling in different directions.
  3. 03What a lack of clarity or coherence may be costing you.
  4. 04Which questions deserve your attention next.

And, most importantly:

Where to move from insight into design.

The goal isn’t to give you a score and send you on your way. It’s to give you a clearer picture of the work ahead of you.
